Think about every platform of information that the ‘new world’ operates on and assess how long it will take for the youth to understand that they do not need ‘Degrees’ in the traditional way anymore. There is a generation of us that harbours a fear for the less formal education however there are new ways to learn and more to learn. The question is how do we prepare our children to live in the ‘new world’? A world where they will have to rationalise with humans and artificial intelligence in order to get their point across.
There is no doubt that curriculum is the key to structured learning, but by the age of 15 most children start to question the curriculum. Reading is the staple diet to all learning; – because the classroom will not be able to hold the youth much longer, learning has to expand beyond the classroom.
“Teach children how to read and understand literature, and their only limitation will be curiosity.” Reading with understanding is the core skill of tomorrow. You cannot Google what you cannot read, you cannot evaluate what you do not understand. If knowledge is the door to self-empowerment, reading is the key to conquering the world.
